Michelle Maiden publishes a theory of modulated viscous fluid conduit periodic waves in Proceedings of the Royal Society A
Michelle Maiden and Mark Hoefer were published in .  Their paper, Modulations of viscous fluid conduit periodic waves, presents a theoretical investigation of the stability and dynamics of periodic waves in the viscous fluid conduit system.  New coherent wave structures called envelope solitons are identified.  Previous lab experiments by the group have observed dispersive shock waves in this system.  In a future project, the lab hopes to observe envelope solitons in experiments with viscous fluid conduits.
