Guide for Colorado Community College Students
Guaranteed Transfer Courses
To help you avoid taking unnecessary courses and quickly earn your degree, Colorado has developed a general education curriculum (gtPathways) that forms the core of all AA and AS degrees offered by public two-year community colleges in the state and the core of most bachelor's degrees offered by public four-year colleges and universities in the state. All gtPathways courses are guaranteed to transfer between two-year and four-year public colleges and universities in the state, including CU Boulder, and count toward general education requirements at the receiving institution.
You can find more information about the gtPathways curriculum and courses on the webpage on the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s site.
Guided Pathways
Colorado also has developed Statewide Transfer Articulation Agreements (Degrees with Designation) that allow you to graduate from a Colorado community college with a 60-credit associate degree with designation, such as an Associate of Arts in English or an Associate of Sciences in Geology; enroll with junior status at a four-year university; and complete the bachelor's degree in that major in no more than an additional 60 credits (for a total of 120 credits).
You can find more information about the Statewide Transfer Articulation Agreements (STAAs) on the webpage on the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s site.
Building on or in addition to these STAAs, the College of Arts and Sciences has created CU Boulder specific transfer guides (four-year courses maps) for all the Bachelor of Arts degrees offered in the college. (At CU Boulder all departments offer Bachelor of Arts degrees even those with majors in the Natural Sciences.)
You can find these four-year course maps, which provide a pathway to graduation from CU Boulder with a bachelor’s degree within four years, on the Transfer Guide webpage.
