Celeste Moreno is a PhD student in the Creative Communities research group, advised by Ricarose Roque, assistant professor of information science. Celeste听designs and researches creative learning experiences for learners of all ages that combine tools and ideas from multiple disciplines, such as computing, art听and science. She received an MS in Creative Technology and Design from the University of Colorado Boulder and a听BA in biological and pre-medical illustration from Iowa State University.

Maker Made 2022 features work by ATLAS community

A group of six artists and technologists connected to the ATLAS community contributed to BLDG 61鈥檚 Maker Made 2022, which runs through March 28 at the Boulder Public Library. Zack Weaver, who played a key role in establishing the ATLAS BTU Lab and the show鈥檚 curator, says the inspiration for Maker Made goes back to his days at Carnegie Mellon with ATLAS Director Mark Gross.

Computer Science Education Week: Celeste Moreno leads animation workshop

As part of Boulder鈥檚 Computer Science Education Week (CSED), ATLAS PhD student Celeste Moreno will be teaching "Animate Your World," a workshop geared towards beginners and families. The workshop is part of Moreno鈥檚 graduate research in the Department of Information Science鈥檚 Creative Communities group, funded under an NSF award (NSF-2005702) titled, 鈥淭inkering and Making Strategies to Engage Children and Families in Creating with Code.鈥�

Computer Science Education Week: Celeste Moreno leads educator workshop

鈥淢icro:bits are becoming an increasingly important part of coding for kindergarten through 12th-grade classrooms,鈥� says Celeste Moreno, a research master鈥檚 student at CU Boulder鈥檚 ATLAS Institute who designed and will lead the "Making and Learning with Micro:bit" workshop. 鈥淚t's an affordable and flexible tool that allows students to make changes in the physical world using code."
