Research Interests: I am passionate about researching substance use and addiction because I view addiction as a pervasive health crisis that transcends gender identity, race, socioeconomic status, and sexual orientation. Millions of Americans grapple with addiction and substance abuse daily, with many tragically losing their lives to these substances. By expanding our knowledge, we can better understand the short- and long-term effects of these drugs on the brain and body and develop more effective support for those struggling with substance abuse. My specific interests include investigating how long-term addiction impacts neural connections in the brain and the effects of early-onset drug addiction on the development of physical and neurological structures. Additionally, I am keen to explore the therapeutic potential of human-horse interactions in psychotherapy.
