CU WellBrain and Coaching Study

CU WellBrain

The CU WellBrain Project

The CU WellBrain study aims to investigate wellness and stress coping among CU Boulder undergraduate students.  An important premise of this study is that the college years are a time of remarkable transition: young adults are newly independent, with increased academic and personal responsibility, new peer and romantic relationships, and decreased external structure from parents and family. These changes provide exciting opportunities for learning and growth, and can be acutely stressful. Such stress can be a potent predictor of mental health challenges.  The CU WellBrain study seeks to understand what makes undergraduate students resilient or vulnerable to stress, and explore how peer-to-peer coaching may foster wellness. Students who participate in this study are asked to answer a set of electronic surveys over the course of one year, and some also complete two in-person visits that include interviews about life experiences, computer games, and a neuroimaging scan.
