StAR Symposium Highlights Graduate Research
StARS is a longstanding tradition going back at least 15 years that facilitates graduate student networking with industry representatives and provides a unique opportunity for graduate students to showcase their research.
Over the course of the day, there will be presentations by graduate students hailing from a variety of backgrounds on their recent research. In the past, experimental, theoretical and computational research strategies have been utilized to investigate a variety of topics including biotechnology, catalysis and integrated physiology.
StARS always strives to organize an interdisciplinary event to bring researchers of different backgrounds together. Recently, the StARS Committee ramped up the effort to expand the presentation topics to include other CU departments within science and engineering to bolster the collaboration between university groups.
One of the unique aspects of StARS is the participation of invited industry representatives. Each year, we have a handful of guests from local industries who volunteer their time to listen to and talk with our presenters. In the past, we have had participation from Phillips 66, Shell, Elion Labs, NIST, NREL, Terumo BCT, and TDA Research, to name a few. By bringing in industry connections, StARS fosters a truly constructive and collaborative atmosphere, not to mention providing necessary networking opportunities.
Attendance is open to any and all CU students (graduates and undergraduates alike), and no reservation is necessary. All that is required is an interest in learning about the cutting-edge work that is being conducted here at the University of Colorado Boulder!
Complementary coffee will be served throughout the day in addition to a free lunch around noon.
Through StARS, our ultimate goal is to provide a platform for students to proudly share their work. If you are interested in attending, please feel free to join us. We hope to see you there!
