EVEN PhD Student Kelsey Reeves Awarded the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program

Our very own Kelsey Reeves, was chosen for the National Science Foundation鈥檚 (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship for 2018. The Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) recruits high-potential early-career scientists and engineers and supports their graduate research training in STEM fields. The GRFP is the nation鈥檚 oldest continuous investment in the U.S. STEM workforce; beginning in 1952 just after the NSF was created. Today the GRFP provides $34,000 annual stipend and $12,000 cost-of-education allowance to the graduate institution for three years of the five year fellowship period.

Previously, Kelsey has traveled the globe to places like the Dominican Republic, Iceland, and Ethiopia for both research and in a professional environment; working mainly on drinking water and water treatment. Kelsey is currently working on her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and is advised by Scott Summers and Rajagopalan Balaji and has had published articles. Kelsey鈥檚 research is on statistical modeling of water quality thresholds and exceedance evaluations for drinking water treatment facilities. She plans on finishing her Ph.D. in the fall of 2018.

Congratulations Kelsey Reeves!
