EVEN Team wins People鈥檚 Choice Award at Design Expo and First Place at RMWEA Student Design Competition
An EVEN Senior Capstone Design Team won the People鈥檚 Choice Social Impact Award at the College of Engineering and Applied Science Senior Capstone Design Expo. They were selected from 140 student teams for one of four overall awards. The group, consisting of Brandon DaSilva, Powell Hinson, Rachel Knobbs, Lin Ye and Ryan Smith, presented their project, titled: 鈥淐ity of Gunnison Wastewater Treatment Plant Retrofits for Enhanced Phosphorus Removal.鈥 This project was sponsored by the (WEF). They designed a solution to mitigate the effects of the high inflow and infiltration that Gunnison, Colorado鈥檚 wastewater treatment system experiences every spring. This inflow can dilute the wastewater, making treatment difficult.
The EVEN team presented their solution at the WEF regional student design competition in Denver on Friday, May 3, 2019 and won first place!
