In this edition, meet the LLM Class of 2025’s Neven Grigic! Ìý
What inspired you to pursue an LLM degree?Ìý
NG: I find technology law very fascinating. It is the legal field I want to specialize in, and I am aware of the fact that I need to constantly improve myself, so I am happy that I've gotten the opportunity to steer my career in the desired direction through the LLM program in Intellectual Property, Technology and Telecommunications law as a Fulbright Foreign Student Program grantee.Ìý
What is your educational background and/or what was your career prior to coming to Colorado Law?Ìý
NG: In Croatia, after you finish high school, you can enroll in a law school program which lasts 5 years (it is combined undergrad and grad program). I graduated from law school in my hometown and then I was employed at the Municipal State Attorney's Office in Osijek in which I handled criminal cases such as theft and fraud. ÌýPrior to arriving in the U.S., I also had temporary stint at the Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime, Department in Osijek. As the name suggests, at the Office I worked on criminal law cases such as human and drug trafficking committed by organized crime groups.Ìý
Why did you choose to attend Colorado Law?Ìý
NG: First, I must thank Fulbright Foreign Student Program/Institute of International Education for connecting me with Colorado Law. Colorado Law offered me everything I wanted education wise. Courses are interconnected and functional, with excellent theory to practice ratio. I am also stunned by Boulder's natural beauty - the surrounding mountains are awe inspiring, and the whole place is very relaxed.ÌýÌýÌý
What are your hobbies outside of work/school?Ìý
NG: I like taking long walks to explore my surroundings, and reading as a way to invest in myself. I also like listening to music, watching movies and TV shows (I am not picky genre-wise). I also believe that to a healthy mind you need a healthy body, so I am regular at the gym.Ìý
What are you most looking forward to this upcoming academic year?Ìý
NG: Already the first month of classes exceeded my expectations. The lecturers are extremely competent, the classes are excellently organized. I am particularly satisfied - and this is a new experience for me - with different methodical approaches, from independent work and preparation to group discussions. Nothing is tiring, the teaching process is dynamic, colleagues are friendly. There is a healthy and inspiring competitive atmosphere. The professors have designed the classes excellently and they are not uncompromising authorities, but senior colleagues, moderators, who, thanks to their excellent preparation, functionally direct the conversation, achieving the goals and tasks of the course in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I expect that this approach will train me to become a competent legal expert in the legal field I currently study.Ìý
