- Anna Englander to sing with professional Opera Futura to kick off exchange
- If it weren鈥檛 for dedicated mentors in her high school, University of Colorado Boulder student Lisa Martin would not have considered a career as a music educator. 鈥淚t definitely took some persuasion on the part of my directors, and I am forever grateful that they saw in me what I did not see in myself back in the day,鈥 she said.

- CU Opera provided the student vocalists for the lead roles in the Colorado Music Festival鈥檚 presentation of Hans Krasa鈥檚 鈥淏rundibar鈥 June 28-29, 2012. Jessi Goebel and Lukas Graf played the young heroes, Anniku and Pepicek, in search of milk for their ailing mother.
- Keane Southard (MM 2011, composition) has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student grant to spend nine months next year pursuing research in Brazil.
- The Anasazi String Quartet (ASQ) won 1st Prize in the 2012 MTNA National Chamber Music Competition. The quartet, praised by audiences for their passionate and engaging performances, has been playing together since the fall of 2009. Founded at the University of Colorado at Boulder, ASQ pursued studies with the school鈥檚 string faculty: Lina Bahn, Judith Glyde, Erika Eckert, and the Tak谩cs Quartet.
- CU Boulder Music alumna Megan Marino (MM 2008, vocal performance) won third prize in the 2012 Lotte Lenya Competition on April 21, 2012, at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Three-time Tony Award nominee Rebecca Luker, Broadway and Encores! music director Rob Berman, and Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization President and American Theater Wing Chairman of the Board Theodore S. Chapin served as judges.
- Ashraf Sewailam (BM 94, MM 96, DMA 08) discusses his role in the Virginia Opera production of Aida and is seen performing Brahms鈥 Requiem as a featured soloist.
- The Aakash Mittal Quartet, led by Aakash Mittal (BM 2007, saxophone), received the ASCAP/Chamber Music America award for Adventurous Programming of Contemporary Music for jazz ensemble in January in New York. The group performs its members鈥 original works and draws heavily on the improvisational vocabulary and compositional aspects of the North Indian classical raga tradition.
