Program Requirements
The Presidents Leadership Class has three sets of requirements for program completion. Students must complete all of the requirements to graduate with a certificate of completion and to become a part of the PLC alumni community. Please explore the requirements below.
- Academic Requirements
- Experiential Requirements
- Service Requirements
In addition to these requirements, we have expectations and policies that students should follow and display during the completion of the requirements listed above.
Academics
Experiential Learning
Two Deep Dive trips are required in PLC. Deep Dives are multi-day explorations into complex topics involving speaker panels, travel to relevant locations, group discussions, relevant service, and complementary activities. PLC recommends you complete one Deep Dive in your first year. You can save the second Deep Dive for when it best fits your schedule.
One ALE and the accompanying course PRLC 2930 are required in PLC. Students will participate in applied experiences throughout their undergraduate careers. One of these experiences will become a PLC ALE - an applied experience enhanced by a structure that insists on attention to goals, receiving and learning from feedback, reflection through individual and group analysis, intention on the future application of skills, and lessons learned.
The Student Staff helps the professional staff and faculty implement programming throughout the academic year to enrich the experience of their peers. Student Staff is a long-held tradition and remains popular among PLCers. The staff is typically ~35 students fulfilling different positions depending on their interests, strengths, and program needs. The staff is a team of teams with focuses ranging from academic curriculum to mental health advocacy and service projects.
