Hello,
As of around 1:30 p.m. today, we had restored all waitlist data. This afternoon, we are working on notifying students of the resolution. A final update on the issue will also be sent in next week's RegNetwork and will include a copy of the message to students.
Thank you for your patience!

Good afternoon,
As shared in our general message yesterday, Spring 2021 Main Campus full-semester waitlists were purged in error on Tuesday, Jan. 19. We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible based on the data we have available. We expect to restore the last of the affected waitlists by the end of the day on Friday, Jan. 22, though it may take additional time to correct errors related to prerequisites, schedule conflicts and other situations.
While we continue working to resolve this issue, we have connected with the Canvas team in OIT to temporarily pause class drops from feeding into Canvas, which normally occurs on a 24-hour delay. This means that any student who was dropped from a class or class waitlist after 8 a.m. Tuesday morning will not lose access to that class’s online materials in Canvas. The Buff Portal team has also posted a related alert on students' class schedule cards. Additionally, we are preparing to email affected students today to inform them of the issue. We'll also continue to post any updates as they become available on our related website announcement.
We apologize for this error and want to assure you that our office is committed to providing as positive an experience as possible for affected students as we resolve this issue. With that in mind, some additional considerations:
As shared earlier, we have temporarily disabled students' ability to join all full-semester Main Campus class waitlists to prevent new students from adding themselves to a waitlist ahead of previously waitlisted students. However, there was a brief window of time after the waitlist purge and before this functionality was disabled when a small number of students successfully joined an affected waitlist. We plan to leave these cases as is, rather than removing these students from the waitlists.
We could use your help to identify any classes, particularly those with an instruction mode of remote, online or hybrid remote/online, that may be able to accommodate additional enrollment from the waitlist. (We understand that in-person and hybrid in-person classes may not have flexibility due to COVID-adjusted classroom capacities). We will be following up as soon as possible via large file transfer to provide you with the list of affected classes. If there are class sections that could accommodate an increased maximum enrollment limit, please indicate this using the "increase enrollment capacity" column and return your revised spreadsheet to our Academic Scheduling team by noon this Friday, Jan. 22 (academicscheduling@colorado.edu).
