Buffs, find balance and support for your well-being
I hope you are doing well and enjoying the fall season, now that it is officially here! I am enjoying the hot chocolate from the Bakery at the WeatherTech Café in the Center for Community (C4C) before I start my days on campus. I plan to take advantage of many fall activities over the next couple of months and highly encourage you to do so as well. Even taking a short walk or bike ride down the Boulder Creek Path to view the changing leaves can be an opportunity to enjoy the season, practice self-care and take a break from responsibilities.
In the Division of Student Affairs, we encourage students at the start of the semester to get organized and block off study time in your schedules to prepare for exams and due dates. We hope you make time to get involved, continue to practice self-care and stay connected with friends, family and networks. We know that such a connection makes a difference when you want to celebrate your successes and on days when you need a familiar voice to help get through the day. Scheduling time to lean in to both your responsibilities and your well-being is critical as the semester progresses.
Student Affairs has many resources and opportunities to help you practice self-care as you continue to find balance. Attending student events is a great option for taking study breaks and meeting fellow Buffs with similar interests. Here are just a few things you can do over the next few months:
- Check out DIY Nights with the Center for Student Involvement if you enjoy crafting.
- Attend Free Friday Power Hour at the Rec Center to try new fitness classes.
- Watch free movies on campus with Program Council’s Friday Night Film series.
- Volunteer with Ralphie’s Green Stampede through the Environmental Center.
- Build community with others through the Center for Inclusion and Social Change—opportunities include , and many more chances to connect.
- I also encourage you to consider CU in the Community with the Volunteer Resource Center for one-time, student-led volunteer projects throughout the semester.
With hundreds of events happening on campus, I am confident you’ll find something you enjoy! You can also follow or download the CU Boulder Life app to learn about upcoming opportunities.
Buffs, I am glad you’re here and have enjoyed connecting with so many of you this month at different campus events. I look forward to meeting many more of you as we embrace the liveliness of fall.
