Take a study break: Ways to recharge, refocus and reconnect

Late night breakfast
As you work to wrap up the semester and prepare for finals, it’s important to keep things in perspective and take care of yourself. CU Boulder has ways to help you unwind through finals with events and resources. Check out these tips to recharge, refocus and reconnect.

Schedule study breaks

Create a study schedule to help you prepare for finals and finish assignments. When you make your schedule, add in study breaks. You can mix in short breaks where you stretch or grab a snack with longer breaks. During your longer breaks, look for ways to move your body and release tension. You can do yoga, walk to lunch or even visit the Rec Center

Turn off your screen

When you are tired from studying, it can feel tempting to numb out on screens. However, time away from screens can help you refocus and rest your mind. Instead of screens, try to find ways to get outside and move. You can take a walk around campus, go for a bike ride in Boulder or check out a local hiking trail. Here are other screen-free activities to try.

Reach out to friends and family

Connecting with others can help you to manage stress and feel valued. Make time to talk with your family or hang out with friends. You can go to dinner, attend a campus event or take a study break together. It’s important to stay connected to your support network to avoid feeling isolated or lonely.

Attend campus events

There are a variety of events happening on campus to support you during finals. You can find study breaks, snacks and other fun ways to connect to campus resources. Most campus events are free and easy to attend. Grab a friend and join in the fun!
