The University of Colorado Boulder will hold its winter commencement ceremony on Friday, Dec. 21, in the Coors Events Center on campus.
The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. and is free and open to the public.
Due to traffic delays, and ongoing construction on U.S. 36 leading into Boulder, early arrival is strongly advised. Guests should plan to be seated by 9 a.m. People entering the events center are asked not to bring large purses or bags to the ceremony.
The ceremony will honor candidates for 2,074 degrees, including 1,560 bachelor’s degrees, 384 master’s degrees, six law degrees and 124 doctoral degrees.
The commencement address will be given by Professor Patrick Mason of CU-Boulder’s College of Music. Mason, a professor of voice, received this year’s Hazel Barnes Prize, the highest faculty recognition for teaching and research awarded by the university.
Mason is a Berton Coffin Faculty Fellow at CU-Boulder. He has appeared on stages across the nation and in Tokyo, Rome, Bonn, Paris, Luxembourg, Amsterdam and Cairo, and was a 2006 Grammy Award finalist in the category of Solo Vocal Performance for his Bridge Records recording of “Songs of Amy Beach.” He will sing the CU alma mater at the end of the commencement ceremony.
Parking lots and gray meters near the Coors Events Center are free for commencement parking. Traffic officers and parking supervisors and attendants will be available to assist campus visitors.
A live webcast of the ceremony and additional information about commencement, including a campus parking map and information for people with disabilities, is available at .
