This Saturday, the Class of 2020 began their 30-day countdown to the start of their college careers… which means it is only three weeks until Move-In 2016. Have you made your plans for this year’s event?
Permit holders, commuters and those using meter or pay station parking should plan for the closure of many campus parking lots Wednesday, Aug. 17 and Thursday, Aug. 18, and parking lot impacts on Tuesday evening, Aug. 16. Make your plans now to use to get to campus or . Permit holders have received email notification of any parking impacts within their parking lots.
In the rare occurrence where there is a critical need to have a car on campus, you must submit a “critical need” , and specify "Move-In Critical Need" on the request form. Every submission must be authorized by the requestor’s Dean, Vice Chancellor or designee.
It is important to note that Regent Drive will be open only to vehicles displaying ‘MOVE-IN” permits from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Wednesday, Aug. 17 and Thursday, Aug. 18.
Current permit holders from East Campus/Research Park lots will be able to park in their specific permit lots. For traffic reduction purposes, these permit holders are requested to be parked by 8 a.m. and not leave until their work day is finished. Both the and the will be operating, and the transportation schedules will be coordinated with major events to ensure maximum transportation support of faculty and staff involved in welcoming our incoming class.
While the reduction in traffic was a huge factor in parents and students having a positive experience last year, what really impressed them were the faculty, staff and senior administrators who were there to greet them personally.
