CU Boulder Police DepartmentÌýhas become aware that there have been a number of threats made across the country yesterday that appear to be a phishing scam. Ìýin whichÌýcriminals send an email that appears to be legitimate and ask you to provide sensitive information or money.
In this, you would receive an email indicating that there is a bomb in your building. If you don’t pay a ransom in bitcoin, the email indicates that a bomb will detonate. Under no circumstances should individuals respond to these emails by paying a ransom.
So far, at least 17 states have received similar threats, all which have been unsubstantiated.Ìý
