The University of Colorado Boulder joins hundreds of other educational institutionsÌýacross Colorado and the nation in supporting President Biden’s bold and wide-ranging education funding proposals.ÌýÌý

We are particularly supportive of the president’s proposals to double the Pell GrantÌýand expand Pell eligibility and free college for dreamers, as well as provide meaningful support for the nation’s historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), tribal colleges and minority-servingÌýinstitutions (MSIs).ÌýÌý

The federal Pell Grant program is the nation’s foundational investment in higher education. Pell Grants help nearly 7 million low- and moderate-income students attend and complete college annually. This investment to increase Pell Grants will drive economic recovery, help address racial and economic inequities and increase educational attainment here in Colorado and nationwide.

As a , I know how going to college makes a difference in students’ lives. One student’s transformation alters the trajectory of entire families for generations.

The benefits of higher education deepen opportunities for families, which in turnÌýexpand throughout our communities, cultures and industries.

I applaud all these proposals and urge congressional support for the future of our students, families and the nation for generations to come.
