The Dairy Center in Boulder has started an author series in Associate Professor Gene Hayworth's name, with its first event set for Friday, Oct. 22.

Hayworth is the labor and politics collections archivist for the Rare and Distinctive Collections at the University Libraries.

The series' first event,Ěý"'Yep, We're Supposed To Be Here!' Shining Your Identity Through Writing,"Ěýwill discuss art as protest, art as “not” protest, and what it means to enter the world of writing with an identity and perspective that isn’t always heard.

Graphic novelist and Regis University professor R. Alan Brooks will moderate a panel discussion featuring three writers:

  • Olivia Abtahi, author of
  • Steven Dunn, author of and
  • Dylan Edwards, writer and artist of Ěý˛ą˛Ô»ĺ

The panel discussion begins at 7 p.m., and is free to attend, though through the Dairy Center.
