Next month, campus officials will provide an update on how the university’s plans to implement the .

The law, which took effect Jan. 1, 2021, introduced rules to address the gender pay gap, increase transparency and protect employees from pay discrimination. It prohibits gender and gender-plus-protected-class-based pay discrimination—which includes race/ethnicity differences—for substantially similar work in terms of skill, effort and responsibility, regardless of job title. The law does not address any other salary inequities, such as those caused by market factors or by salary compression.

A CU Boulder team from Human Resources, Institutional Research and Academic Affairs is finalizing the implementation of the law. Details of that implementation will be provided in January 2022 to faculty and staff as an email message from Provost Russell Moore and Chief Operations Officer Patrick O’Rourke, with a follow-up posting of this communication in CU Boulder Today.
