This week brings root beer floats, a sneak preview of the new movie Bros, Bisexuality Day, magazine mood boards, pingpong tournaments, a talk by award-winning film star Rita Moreno and more.

Monday, Sept. 19

  2–3 p.m.   UMC, north dining area
Relieve some of the Monday blues with the Center for Student Involvement. Enjoy root beer floats while you chat with other students and learn about different organizations and events on campus.

  7–9 p.m.    UMC, The Connection
Put your pingpong skills to the test at The Connection! Sign-up starts at 6 p.m., with prizes for top finishers.


Tuesday, Sept. 20

What is gossip and why do we do it? Join CU experts for a virtual chat, the first of the new Gossip Train “lunch and learn” series.

  5–7 p.m.   UMC 330
This week’s DIY Night involves collaging! Manifest a successful semester with your own personalized mood board. Sign-up is required. 

  7 p.m.   UMC, Glenn Miller Ballroom
Rita Moreno, one of only 17 performers to have won entertainment’s grand slam of prestigious awards—the Emmy, the Grammy, the Oscar and the Tony—will give an inspirational talk on campus. The free event is sponsored by the CU student-run Cultural Events Board.

This career fair is intended to capture all sub-disciplines within the department: structural, electrical, mechanical, geotech, water resources, and construction engineering and management. 


Thursday, Sept. 22

Mental Health First Aid

  10:30 a.m.–5 p.m.   Virtual
Mental Health First Aid training allows someone with no clinical training to assist someone in a state of crisis. Participants are introduced to risk factors, warning signs, and a five-step strategy to support someone in crisis.


Friday, Sept. 23

  10 a.m.–3 p.m.   C4C N320
Stop by the C4C to celebrate Bisexuality Day with cookie decorating, swag and more. 

  5:30–8:30 p.m.   Martin Park
Community members and students that are currently living on or considering a future home in the Martin Acres neighborhood are welcome to come to a free block party, sponsored by Student Affairs. Come out to mingle with neighbors and enjoy free food from local favorites Illegal Pete’s and Sweet Cow, inflatable games, henna art and more.

Join Program Council for a free movie on the big screen—popcorn included. This week, catch a special advance screening of the new movie Bros, a romantic comedy from the producer of Trainwreck and Bridesmaids and the director of Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
