Provost names D’Andra Mull vice chancellor for student affairs

Provost Russell Moore today announced his appointment of D’Andra Mull to be the new vice chancellor for student affairs, effective June 1.

“I am delighted that Dr. Mull will be joining my team and CU Boulder as vice chancellor for student affairs,” said Moore. “She has impressed me, the committee and all who have met her with her vision, passion for student success and her amazing track record of success at two peer universities. Our students will be the beneficiaries of her experience and leadership.”

Mull most recently served as vice president for student life at the University of Florida. In this leadership role, she managed the distribution of $140-plus million in state allocations, auxiliary operations, foundation funds and student fees, all of which contributed to the campus environment and student success. Prior to her position at the University of Florida, Mull held leadership positions at The Ohio State University.

“I was immediately drawn to this position at CU Boulder because of the university’s commitment to enhancing the student experience by providing unparalleled service and support while striving to enable each student’s pathway to success,” said Mull. “I couldn’t be more honored and more excited to be a part of this university that is so deeply committed to supporting the development and success of each student.”

A committed practitioner-scholar, Mull has served on numerous community and university boards, is a published author and a frequently invited expert for academic symposiums, community programs, panels and forums. She also has served on numerous student affairs executive committees for state and national organizations, including the American Association of Universities (AAU) and the Association of Public Land-Grant Universities (APLU).

“At this time, I’d like to thank our search advisory committee chair Daryl Maeda, vice provost and dean of undergraduate education, for his leadership of this excellent search, along with the members of the search committee and the executive search firm, Diversified Search Group,” said Moore. “I’d also like to single out the service of JB Banks, our dean of students, who has been serving as acting vice chancellor for student affairs during the search. Dr. Mull can have confidence she is joining an excellent team with this caliber of leadership around her.”

Mull will succeed Akirah Bradley-Armstrong, who became the vice chancellor for student affairs and success at the University of California Santa Cruz in summer 2022. Mull holds a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University, a master’s degree from Michigan State University and a doctorate from The Ohio State University.

“As educators, we must deliver a multifaceted and innovative supportive structure for our increasingly diverse student population through creative, strategic and innovative leadership if we are to prepare the next generation of students to learn, live and lead in an evolving global community,” said Mull.

Reporting to the provost, the vice chancellor for student affairs leads the Division of Student Affairs and works in collaboration with faculty, staff and student leaders to enhance the student experience and each student’s potential for success.
