Welcome to November! There are a ton of fun events coming up this month including XXX

 

Nov. 1, 6–7 p.m., Canyon Theater, Main Library
Honor Native American Heritage Month and prepare for the upcoming election by joining this lecture and discussion on the history of Native Americans’ access to the polls and the tremendous power of the Indigenous vote. Hear from Colorado Law Professor Christina Stanton on the laws, advocacy and modern movements to increase Native American participation in elections and from Native American Rights Fund Attorney Allison Neswood on the ongoing fights to defend Native American voting rights in the courts. Learn how you can support national and local efforts to ensure everyone who wants to vote is able. Light refreshments provided.

Come out to The Grotto and enjoy some Halloween and horror movie trivia. Bring some friends or make new friends as you form a group of up to six, enjoy some snacks and refreshments, and compete for awesome prizes.

Join for a scary good time at RHA’s annual Haunted Halls event!

Nov. 3, Noon–6 p.m., UMC Gaming Lounge 
Compete head-to-head in a yearlong competition with other CU Boulder students to be named the Ultimate Gamer! Each event of the Ultimate Gamer tournament features a different game genre, from Battle Royales to Survival to Roguelikes. Players can win each event and earn points toward the yearlong competition. At the end of the year, the player with the most points will be named CU Boulder's Ultimate Gamer.

Free flu shot clinic

Nov. 4–8, 1–4 p.m., Kittredge Central 
Stay healthy all season long by getting a free flu shot at this clinic on campus. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins can be accommodated depending on availability.

Research shows that writing gratitude letters can increase your happiness and boost your mood. Learn more about the science of gratitude and write a postcard to someone you are grateful for. We will mail your letter anywhere around the world!

Nov. 6, 6–8:30 p.m., CASE auditorium and Chancellor’s Hall
Celebrate excellence in gaming with John Romero. Born in Colorado and holding Mexican, Yaqui and Cherokee heritage, Romero is a director, designer, programmer and developer in the video game industry. He has helped develop classics like Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Hexen and Quake. John will present on indigeneity and gaming remotely to a live audience in the CASE auditorium. Catering, provided by Tocabe, will also be served with a curated Q&A in the Chancellor's Hall.

Mental Health First Aid training is designed to help individuals assist someone experiencing mental health or substance use concerns or crises. Participants will learn about risk factors and warning signs, engage in experiential activities, discuss professional and self-help resources and practice a five-step strategy to provide support. Mental Health First Aid for higher education provides tailored information for college and university communities. .

Nov. 14, 2 p.m., St. Aidan's Episcopal Church 
The mobile food pantry is free and open to CU Boulder students, faculty and staff, and community members of Boulder and Broomfield counties. Attendees will receive up to 30 pounds of food in multiple boxes. Food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Lacrosse's origins can be traced back to North America's Indigenous people who began playing variations of the game as early as the 12th century. SPEED Lacrosse is a variation that emphasizes skill and finesse over physicality and is like flag football in that there are no positions and players don't wear protective gear.

This event promotes plant medicine and food sovereignty through grassroots activism, featuring the sharing of traditional Indigenous plant foods and practices. Attendees will also receive plants to take home and grow, encouraging sustainable food practices.

Join for an evening of conversation, art and community with Tiana Boisseau-Palo (she/her), a Creek-Cherokee printmaker. Tiana will share insights into her work, which explores patterns from beadwork and weaving as expressions of memory and ritual rooted in her family and cultural upbringing. Her unique printmaking approach incorporates techniques inspired by loom work to evoke the texture and essence of traditional beadwork. This event provides an opportunity to engage with Boisseau-Palo's artistic journey, connect with the community and celebrate Native and Indigenous Heritage Month.

Goal ball is a game designed to be played by athletes who are blind or visually impaired. The object of the game is to throw a ball past the opponents and into their net to score points. Players stay on their hands and knees to defend their net and score against their opponents while wearing opaque eyeshades.
