This Friday, Sept. 2, is the annual Rocky Mountain Showdown at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Our team, our school, and our colors are something we Buffs take great pride in and it is very important for us to represent the Buffs in the best light as we take on the Colorado State Rams.

The 2016 Rocky Mountain Showdown featuring the University of Colorado vs. Colorado State University will take place Friday, Sept. 2, at Sports Authority Field at Mile High stadium in Denver. The kickoff for this highly anticipated event is at 6 p.m. and marks the 88th meeting of the CU and CSU teams.

New internship program places students in Japan

Students enrolled in a new internship program run by the Center for Asian Studies at CU Boulder get real-world job experience and cultural immersion in Japan. Look for details on an information session in November. The center is currently identifying employers who will host student interns next summer. The deadline to apply is Feb. 1, 2017.

Cases of hand, foot and mouth disease on campus

There have been several cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) across campus over the past week. Coxsackievirus is the most common cause of HFMD and is a contagious viral infection that causes painful sores on the hands, feet, and mouth. Most cases resolve within a week and do not need medication attention.

Among the state’s four winners of this year’s Governor’s Award for High-Impact Research are the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) and the JILA physics institute, both at CU Boulder.
