Flaherty x Boulder Fellowship Application

The Center for Documentary and Ethnographic Media, in partnership with the Department of Critical Media Practices, the College of Media, Communication, and Information, and the Flaherty, is pleased to be able to offer one (1) in-person fellowship position to the 2023 Flaherty Seminar.

Each year the Flaherty offers Fellowships for emerging and mid-career filmmakers, media professionals and students to attend the Flaherty Film Seminar. The Fellows program is an expanded experience of the seminar, led by Fellows Coordinators and designed to further your knowledge of cinema through participation in an array of unique activities.

Eligibility

Graduate students in good standing who are currently enrolled in programs within the College of Media, Communication, and Information are eligible to apply.

Funding

The Flaherty x Boulder Fellowship covers the entire Seminar registration fee, which includes room, board, and all special events throughout the week. It does not cover other travel costs.

Rules

  • In order to receive a Fellowship, you must be available from Friday, June 16th throughÌýFriday, JuneÌý23rd, 2023.Ìý
  • Applicants awarded this Fellowship must be present on campus at Skidmore College for the duration of this time.Ìý

  • If you have received a Fellowship to attend the Seminar in the past, you are ineligible to apply.

  • If awarded a Fellowship, the applicant agrees to attend the entirety of the 2023 Flaherty Seminar and participate in all Flaherty Fellows events, assignments, discussions, and special sessions.

Criteria

Applications will be reviewed and awarded by Center faculty, staff, and affiliates. The applicant should:

  • Demonstrate achievement in their field of study, or show potential to be an emerging talent.
  • Clearly articulate their expectations of the Fellowship and how it would benefit their creative and/or scholarly interests.
  • Effectively convey their unique perspective and explain how they feel they can con, tribute to the event.
