How to Vote
Like your classes, voting requires planning and participation. Make a plan to research your ballot and vote by 7 p.m. MST Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.
Step 1: Register to Vote
Colorado residents have several options to register to vote.

- Use your Buff One card or to register onsite at vote centers throughout Colorado, including at the University Memorial Center and Williams Village (Nov. 4-5 only).
As a registered Colorado resident, you’ll receive a ballot in the mail if your address is up to date by Oct. 28, 2024. Confirm or update your address at .
If you’re a student from out of state, you can choose to register in your home state with your home address or choose to register in Colorado with your mailbox number. Where you register to vote will not affect your federal financial aid but may affect whether you qualify for in-state tuition, according to .Ěý
Step 2: Vote
Key Dates
- Oct. 11, 2024:Â Ballots begin mailing to eligible voters.
- Oct. 21, 2024:Â Vote centers begin to open.
- Oct. 28, 2024:Â Last day to submit a voter registration application and still receive a ballot in the mail.
- Oct. 29, 2024:Â National Vote Early Day
- Nov. 5, 2024: Election Day! Ballots or in-person voting due by 7 p.m. Postmarks do not count.
Where and When to Vote
UMC
In-person registration and voting begin Oct. 21. ID required (Buff OneCard accepted). Register, get a ballot, and vote up to and including Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
UMC Vote Center Hours:
- Monday–Friday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday (Nov. 2 only): 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sundays: Closed
- Tuesday, Nov. 5: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.Ěý
Williams Village
In-person registration and voting Nov. 4–5 in the Multipurpose Rooms. ID required (Buff OneCard accepted). You may register, get a ballot and vote.
Williams Village Vote Center Hours:
- Nov. 4: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Nov. 5: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.Ěý
24-Hour Drop Boxes
CU Boulder has 24-hour drop boxes outside the UMC and at Williams Village. You can also use . Out-of-county ballots will be rerouted to the correct county. Drop off your ballot by 7 p.m. Nov. 5. If you’re voting out of state, follow your state’s requirements.
*Pro tip: The most common reason a ballot is discarded is an inability to verify the signature on the envelope.
