Student Organizing Committee (SOC):

The International Planetary Probe Workshop (IPPW) Student Organizing Committee strongly welcomes students and young professionals to join the workshop and the short course. IPPW is a great opportunity for deepening your knowledge, broadening your horizon and to getting involved with the experts in the field.
Workshop contributions from students are highly encouraged and plenty of student submissions are usually found amongst both oral and poster presentations.

There are several special events throughout IPPW that are organized especially for students:

  1. Student Social – A fun opportunity for students to meet and socialize before the week-long workshop.
  2. Student Development Luncheon – A forum for students to improve their professional skills.

Information about the Student Scholarship Application:

To enable students to participate in IPPW, a limited number of student scholarships are available to help defray the costs of the workshop and short course. There are two types of applications: One for US Students, and one for Non-US Students (see below).

Student scholarships cover expenses related to workshop attendance, up to a maximum level. Funds spent beyond the stated award must be covered by other sources. Travel reimbursements will be awarded competitively based on a student's proposed level of participation in the workshop (paper presentation, poster presentation, or attendance only) and a letter of recommendation from the student's research advisor. Priority will be given to those students who are presenting material and submitting a paper at the workshop. Due to different sponsor requirements, the application process for students studying in the United States is coordinated separately from that for remaining students. Also, note that restrictions may apply on the eligible countries of citizenship for a scholarship, depending on the available funding sources. For information on the application process for your region, please see the appropriate section below.
These scholarships are made available by the generous support of our sponsoring organizations.

NOTE: All expenses must be covered by the student prior to, and during, the workshop. Scholarships for U.S. and non US-students will be provided by reimbursement (up to a certain amount) following your return from the workshop.

US Students:

To obtain this reimbursement, you will be required to fill out a Travel Authority Form prior to the workshop and a Travel Expense Summary (TES) after the workshop. Please keep all receipts (except meal receipts) since these will be required to complete the TES. In general, travel reimbursement will be made for the following expenses:

  • Travel (air, train, taxi, bus, airport parking, rental car, parking, etc.)
  • Accommodation
  • Short Course Registration
  • Meals other than those provided by the Workshop

Non-US Students:

You will be required to fill a reimbursement form after the workshop. Please keep all receipts. Please be aware that Non-US-scholarships will unfortunately only cover part of the total expenses. All students who will be awarded a scholarship will get full reimbursement of:

  • Workshop Registration
  • Short Course Registration

Students MAY recive additional PARTIAL reimbursement towards of following expenses:

  • Travel (air, train, taxi, bus, airport parking, rental car, parking, etc.)
  • Accommodation

Be aware that this means that you will have to find additional/other sources to cover for all expenses not covered by the Non-US scholarship.
