[59926] Assistant Professor - Climate-Related Extreme Events
INSTAAR seeks applications for a faculty position in climate-related extreme events and hazards, and their environmental impacts. Researchers who study hazards on human time scales (e.g. days to decades) and with direct societal impact are of particular interest.
Specific foci of applicants may include floods, droughts, wildfires, glacial failure, and/or landslides. The new hire will be a joint appointment with 1 of these CU Boulder departments: ATOC, CEAE, ENVS, GEOG, or GEOL.

Stable Isotope Lab student assistant
The INSTAAR Stable Isotope Lab seeks an undergraduate student to work part time to help with various laboratory tasks associated with measurements of greenhouse gases. We work in collaboration with NOAA’s Global Monitoring Laboratory, and our measurements of stable isotopes of methane and carbon dioxide help identify and quantify their emissions and sinks.
INSTAAR Student Assistant I or II
The Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research has several openings for student positions, typically 5-20 hours per week. INSTAAR faculty and students conduct interdisciplinary research and education on the past, present, and future of Earth systems in service of a just and thriving future. Students will help with various research projects, or with administrative and building duties.
An INSTAAR Student Assistant may help with the following range of duties: assisting in conducting and analyzing research, data entry, creating/editing documents, photocopying/printing, creating web content, helping to keep lab areas clean, and performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Responsible and reliable
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Exceptional written and spoken communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
Estimated number of hours/week: 5-20 hours during the academic year, up to 40 hours in the summer.
Location: INSTAAR is located at 4001 Discovery Drive, in the SEEC building on East Campus.
