Engage with Students
Project sponsorship is a great way to build prototypes, explore new concepts and develop ancillary ideas while getting to know a team of soon-to-be professional engineers. You as the client will retain any IP generated throughout the course of the project. Sponsorship includes financial support and mentorship of a team of 5-7 students for a project cycle that lasts from August to May.
This event focuses on introducing second-year students to career opportunities available to mechanical engineering graduates. Industry guests give talks and sit on panels, share their career journeys and insights and give advice to current students. They are also invited to talk with students and other alumni during a networking dinner. Learn more from reading about a past event.
You are invited to participate in a variety of engagement opportunities over the course of a few days as your schedule allows. Engagement opportunities include in-class panels, a graduate student networking breakfast, a networking lunch for all students, student mock interviews and an alumni-only happy hour. Learn more by reading about a past event.
Join the department for annual events that support women in engineering.
Host practice job interviews for second-year students enrolled in MCEN 2000: Mechanical Engineering as a Profession. You can participate in as many or as few interviews as your schedule allows, and interviews can even be conducted over the phone or video chat if you are unable to meet in person. Learn more by reading about mock interviews at ME Alumni Connect Day.
As an informational interview volunteer, you may be contacted by up to three students looking for insights into your industry and career path. Students request your contact information after seeing your job title and company name on our list of volunteers.
Sign up to show students around your place of work! Industry tours are a great way to show students how what they're learning in the classroom can be applied in industry.
The CU Engineering Projects Expo takes place in April each year. At the event, seniors and graduate students in Capstone Design demonstrate their projects. You are needed to provide feedback and ratings for this year's mechanical engineering project teams. Learn more from reading about a past event.
Please contact Kat McConnell if you would be interested in volunteering for any of these events.
