The graduate studies program of the Department of Physics is intended for students pursuing a Ph.D degree in Physics. This involves approximately two years of coursework followed by four years of research, culminating in a dissertation documenting independent, original research.Ìý In addition to a Ph.D. in Physics, the department participates in several interdisciplinary programs: Chemical Physics Ph.D. Program, Geophysics Ph.D. Program, , and Applied Physics Certificate program.Ìý Research opportunities are available in the physics department, in other departments on campus, in national labs in Boulder and the surrounding areas, and in institutes such as and .
