The Writing Center accepts applications on a rolling basis.
Lecturers
A masters or terminal degree in a field related to writing, teaching, languages, or communication is preferred. Applicants must possess experience in teaching, tutoring, publishing, or other relevant professional fields. Lecturers consult with writers between 10 and20 hours per week in the Writing Center, helping writers to clarify thoughts and to convey them more effectively to readers. Applicants should also have experience in assisting writers to develop awareness of their processes, decision making, and opportunities to sharpen their judgment and improve their confidence when planning, drafting, revising, and self-editing.
Fall and Spring: The pay rate is $4,966 per semester for every 10 hours per week, or one course equivalent.
Summer: The pay rate is $14,202 for 13 hours per week duringSummer Sessions A and B.

Graduate Students
Teaching assistant: We accept applications from masters and PhD graduate students with tutoring or teaching experience and a strong interest in written communication.
The pay rate is $6,283.90.
Undergraduate Students
Peer tutor: Undergraduates who are interested in tutoring in the Writing Center need to complete a prerequisite course, WRTG 2090, “Writing Center Theory and Pedagogy,” offered each spring, or attend an alternative training seminar before being eligible for hire. The course and alternative training seminar both include an unpaid six-week internship in the Writing Center. Following completion of the six-week internship, you are eligible to be considered for a Peer tutor position. Pay for this position begins at $16/hour.
Front Desk Student Assistant I:The Writing Center is hiring a Student Assistant I who can provide support and problem solve within a hybrid office environment. This position will be in-person. The ideal candidate must be proficient in Zoom and MS Office, have great customer service skills, be reliable and detail oriented, and most importantly, able to work independently. Responsibilities include assisting students and faculty visitors to the Writing Center, explaining our services, scheduling appointments, answering phone, email, and Zoom inquiries, assisting with clerical tasks, and contributing to Writing Center projects as assigned. Please provide your resume and a cover letter describing relevant experience and qualifications. Previous Writing Center experience is desired but not necessary. Pay begins at$16/hour during the academic year.
