Outdoor Rock and Ice Climbing
Learn how to take your climbing out of the gym and into the mountains. Outdoor Pursuits offers a number of outdoor rock climbing and ice climbing courses to help you improve your skills and find your next adventure.
Top Rope Anchors
This course will teach you what you need to know to take your love of climbing from the gym to the outdoors! Hone your climbing skills in an advanced clinic that will focus on:
- Anchors: Learn to build and clean sport anchors for lead or top rope climbing.
- Rappelling: Learn proper techniques to transition from cleaning the anchor to rappelling back to the ground.
- Outdoor climbing: Spend the day climbing outside and practicing what you've learned.
Although not required, taking a lead clinic in our climbing gym is recommended as a pre-requisite to this course.

Climbing and Camping
Climb and camp with us at Staunton State Park! Participants will learn how to climb outside and spend a night camping under the stars.
The course fee includes transportation, food, climbing and camping equipment.

Outdoor Climbing
Spend a full day top rope climbing at a local crag. This course covers the basics of top rope climbing outdoors, including equipment, techniques and places to go.
All equipment is included in the course fee. Transportation will be provided. Participants must be able to hike with a 20 lb. pack up to two miles on rocky and variable terrain.
