Office of Veteran Services

The should be your first stop if you are a veteran considering attendance to CU. They can provide assistance on using your education benefits and provide transition programs like Summer Bridge and Veteran Ambassadors. It's important to understand how your benefits work at CU, including providing a Request for Enrollment Certification each semester, and Residency Requirements

The Office of Veteran Services has a great staff willing to assist with your needs. Additionally, Kristina Spaeth is the academic advisor who specializes in working with veterans. 

SVA

The campus has a group for veterans, the Student Veteran Association (SVA) and can be found on . The group hosts monthly events for free food and socializing with other student veterans.

RTD: Military Ride for Free

Active duty, Guard, and Reserve members can ride RTD public transportation for free. Visit for more information, and be sure to submit a fee waiver with the Environmental Center during the academic year, which is currently $85 per semester. Waivers must be submitted by the following dates according to semester:

  • Fall term - October 1
  • Spring term - March 1
  • Summer term - July 1

Veteran Alumni Association

The Veteran Alumni Association supports CU Boulder veteran alumni in the transition. With social gatherings and volunteering opportunities, it's a great place to be with like-minded individuals. They also offer a Veteran Mentorship and Transition Program where student veterans can work under a mentor in a "Veteran Friendly" company or organization to enable success in civilian business world.

Register Your Laptop

CU Boulder Office of Information Technology offers a free to help protect your valuable property. In a partnership with the Boulder Police Department, laptop registration is a quick and simple process that can deter the theft of your laptop. Bring your laptop to the Technology Learning Center on campus or to Pearl Street CPC and receive a tamper-resistant sticker.

Software and Hardware

The  offers recommendations if your looking to buy a new computer. If you are buying a new computer, check with the CU Bookstore and get information on the  with Dell, Lenovo, and Apple. There are also many partnerships with the university to get free or student discounted software products.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP): UROP supports research partnerships between faculty and undergraduate students from numerous academic areas.

Discovery Learning Apprenticeship (DLA) Program: As an undergraduate discovery learning apprentice, you’ll work alongside graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, faculty, and industry representatives, as collaborative partners on original research. 

Biological Sciences Initiative (BSI) Scholars in STEM Undergraduate Research: BSI Scholars is a funding and professional development program for current CU Boulder undergraduates. Eligible students conducting original STEM research are paid to work in a laboratory on the CU Boulder or CU Denver Anschutz Medical Campus. Students also attend seminars to enhance the research experience, and summarize their findings through a presentation at the end of the term.

Students receive an when registered for classes. This allows for more commuting options as bus routes run from Denver to Boulder along Highway 36, as well as easy transportation around Boulder. This pass also offers free trips to and from the airport. Looking to spend some time in Denver? The CollegePass also provides free lightrail service to/around the Denver Metro area.

Visit Parking and Transportation Services to purchase a campus parking permit. Fall 2018 sales start 10 AM on August 15. If you have 2 or more people travelling in the same vehicle, you may qualify for the Carpool Permit and can have priority parking spots if you arrive before 9:00 AM.

Prefer to bike?  offers bike registration on campus, as well as many service stations around campus. Remember, the safest way to secure your bike on campus is by a U-Lock. The Environmental Center also provides a  program where you can trade your current lock for a FREE U-Lock!
