What You'll Learn
Our program is one of the top-ranked in the nation. We educate our students in a variety of engineering topics, enable hands-on learning and provide professional development training.
Our undergraduate curriculum consists of 128 credit hours and offers you the ability to specialize with technical electives, certificates and subspecialties in Biomedical Engineering or Environmental Engineering. The College of Engineering and Applied Science also has numerous minor and certificate programs targeted for engineering students. Enrolled undergraduate students may also choose to extend their undergraduate education during their junior year with a Bachelor’s–Accelerated Master’s (BAM), a program that gives you the opportunity to earn an MS degree more quickly than you otherwise could.

Our students are passionate about making positive change in the world. Many are drawn to mechanical engineering, because of the doors the degree opens in almost any industry. Graduates of our program have worked in design, research, and manufacturing roles at aerospace, bioengineering and biomedical device, design and consulting, manufacturing and plant operations, power generation, alternative energy and conservation, petroleum, and transportation companies. They have also formed their own companies and have pursued teaching and research careers in academia.
Earning Potential
With a degree in mechanical engineering, you will also have strong earning potential. The median salary for graduates with a BS in mechanical engineering from 2014 to 2019 was $65,000. For students earning an MS in mechanical engineering, it was $72,250. The estimated median salary for alumni one to five years after graduation with a BS in mechanical engineering is $85,918.
