Doctoral student Kirsten Musetti Tivaringe is one of 30 literacy leaders named to the International Literacy Association’s 30 Under 30 list, a cohort of young innovators, disruptors and visionaries creating positive change in the global literacy landscape. A collaboration between the University of Colorado Boulder School of Education and Northeast Colorado Board of Cooperative Educational Services has received a new grant from the Colorado Department of Higher Education that bolsters collaborative efforts to create a more sustainable teacher force in Northeast Colorado.

The American Physical Society, a "leading voice in physics,” will honor CU Boulder scientists and educators as part of its spring 2019 awards. The Excellence in Physics Education Award will recognize an interdisciplinary CU Boulder team for their work with the Colorado Learning Assistant Program and the Learning Assistance Alliance, an international initiative based in the School of Education. Two national organizations have awarded a grant that will deepen and advance our partnership between Denver Public Schools, CU Boulder, CU Denver and Rowan University. Professor Ben Kirshner is one of the Principal Investigators on the project that received a $1.4 million grant from the Hewlett Foundation and Jobs for the Future to expand the Student Voice and Leadership Program.
Led by School of Education doctoral students Molly Hamm-Rodriguez and Astrid Sambolín Morales, a new report found that K-12 students who fled Puerto Rico for the mainland face waves of continued issues, including housing instability, language barriers and culture shock one year after Hurricane Maria decimated the island.

With poetry, self-reflection, dialogue and community-building, more than 130 educators from 15 school districts gathered at Boulder’s Casey Middle School for the state’s first LGBTQ-Inclusive Educational Practices Institute over the summer.
